It has come to my notice that one of the u3a’s longest existing groups are coming to the end of
their journey, the top sheaves are ceasing to creak, the windlass is coming to a stop, the anchor
will no longer be raised, the sails are being furled, the ship is coming to rest in the dry dock and the
shantyman will no longer have a berth. Yes the Ramshackle Shantymen are retiring. They have
been one of our groups for a good number of years and have performed throughout the area many
times. Maybe they might be giving us the benefit of listening to them as a farewell perfomance.
This does, however, create an opening for someone else to form a similar group if they so desire,
please contact your group co-ordinator, if that is you?
Everyone who attended the “Murder Mystery Night” agreed that it was a success, so look out for
some more of the same, in the future.
